The company ACS has been in the United States selected to compete for the contract which is the largest infrastructure project by the Department of Transport (DOT ) in the State of Nevada, a project estimated at 1,300 million dollars ( 1,000 million euros , approximately ) .
The initiative includes the construction of a new Las Vegas high link between Interstate I -15 and US- 95 , in order to increase the capacity of this corridor, hosting one of the highest traffic volume in the state. Specifically , according to the Department of Transportation that includes Europa Press, about 250,000 vehicles each day use the stretch of 3.7 miles ( six kilometers ) connecting the two roads in downtown Las Vegas .
Therefore, the so-called ‘ Project Neon ‘ , one of the ” most important and ambitious initiatives in the history ” of the state , DOT seeks to ” improve safety , mobility and accessibility of this corridor .”
ACS leads one of the three consortia have been selected to submit a bid for the project. The other two groups are led by Australia’s Macquarie and the Canadian fund Meridian, respectively.
The Department of Transportation hopes to award the project in November of next year and that the works turn out in 2015 in order to be in service in 2019. If it is awarded the contract , the group president Florentino Perez that reinforce the already strong presence in the construction market and concessional American strategic internationalization policy of the company.
